A technology conference was held in Wuhan by China Tobacco Hubei Branch (CTHB) on 19^th June. Fifteen experts in tobacco and technology fields, who were from Wuhan, Beijing, Zhenzhou, were employed to be members of this Technology Expert Committee. Peng Mingquan, the general manager of CTHB, evaluated that the technology must to be “borderless” in order to enhance the technology creation ability of CTHB.

  Actually, there was also another important purpose for the fifteen experts to get together in Wuhan. For they wanted to create more ideals for “the eleven-five technology development planning in Hubei Tobacco Industry”.

   In the recent years, the Hubei tobacco industry completed their comprehensive integration. Even more they got 10 billion in profits tax, which gained the sixth in the whole country.

  However, the competition situation in China tobacco industry is extremely fierce. Hubei still has some problems to change from a big tobacco province to a strong tobacco province.

  Some strong tobacco provinces are planning to restructure the industry, so the famous and the high-end brands’ competition are becoming more and more seriously. Meanwhile, the foreign tobacco tycoons are infiltrating to the domestic market.

  In this situation, CTHB decides to substantially increase the technology abilities, create manufacturing skills and forge key brands. So they identify seven key points to improve the technology, including raw material, product, flavor and spice, equipment, reducing harm, quality control and information research.

   According to the China Tobacco Hubei Branch’s planning, in 2010, Hubei tobacco is going to be entering the creational industry as well as the comprehensive technology ability goes to the top 3 in the whole country.
